# Undo Changes in XSeo with Activity {#doc-title}

By [B2B Gold](/about/#how-we-write) Updated 6 November 2026 [XSeo page](/shopify/xseo/) [XSeo on the Shopify App Store](https://apps.shopify.com/xseo?utm_source=b2bgold.app&utm_medium=referral&utm_campaign=docs&utm_content=docs/xseo/activity-and-undo&utm_term=docs-header)

## How do I undo a run? {#how-do-i-undo-a-run}

To undo a run, click **Undo** on it in XSeo’s **Activity**, which lists the runs XSeo made in your Shopify store: SEO text, alt text, categories, barcodes, descriptions, translations, link fixes and redirects. Undo puts back what each item had before, unless it was edited since, and **Show changes** lists each change. Undoing costs nothing and uses no AI.

1. In XSeo, open **Activity**. Runs are listed newest first, each with its date and what it changed, such as “Products updated: 40”. The buttons at the top narrow the list to one kind, such as **SEO text**, or to **Autopilot**.
2. Click **Undo** on the run. XSeo asks first; for SEO text, **Undo this run?** says “Every field this run changed gets back the text it had before, unless it was edited again since.”
3. Click **Undo this run**. The run shows **Undoing…** while it works, then **Undone** with the date, or **Partly undone** if only some of its changes were put back.

Right after a run, the fix’s own **Undo** does the same. Undo runs as a task, one at a time per store: if another is running, XSeo says “Another task is running. Undo once it finishes.”

Activity shows the latest 20 runs of each kind and XSeo’s latest 100 redirect changes. An older run stays reachable from an item’s page in **Listings** or from the links in XSeo’s monthly report email.

## Can I undo one change? {#can-i-undo-one-change}

Yes: XSeo undoes SEO text, translations, descriptions, link fixes and redirects one change at a time. Click **Show changes** on the run, then **Undo** beside the change; XSeo asks **Undo this change?** before it puts that one value back.

**Show changes** lists up to 100 changes, each with **Before** and **After**. A link fix’s change is one text. Alt text, category and barcode runs are undone as a whole only: **Show changes** lists each one’s before and after, without an **Undo** of its own.

Redirects are undone one by one in Activity. A CSV import is one run with **Undo this import**, which deletes the redirects it created one at a time, except any changed since; keep the page open until it finishes.

## What can’t XSeo undo? {#what-cant-xseo-undo}

XSeo can’t undo a change once the field no longer shows what XSeo wrote: anything you, your team or another app edited since stays as it is, and the run’s report says so.

- **A value edited since.** Undo leaves it as it is. When nothing in an SEO text run is left to put back, XSeo says “Nothing to undo: the text was changed again since, or was already put back.”
- **A redirect changed since.** It reads “Changed since, so it can’t be undone”.
- **Redirects added to fix broken links.** Undoing the link fix run puts the texts back, and the redirects stay: undo each one in Activity.
- **A blog post XSeo created, once it’s published or edited.** Its **Undo** deletes the post only while it’s still hidden and unchanged.
- **AI crawler rules**, once you publish another theme or edit XSeo’s marked lines in `robots.txt.liquid` by hand.
- **AI items.** Undoing an AI run doesn’t give its AI items back this month.
- **Anything after you uninstall.** XSeo deletes its change history 48 hours after you uninstall.

XSeo’s terms put it plainly: “Undo covers XSeo’s own changes. It is not a backup of your store.” ([XSeo’s terms of service](https://xseo.afixer.app/terms-of-service.txt), §3.)

## How do I get an original image back? {#how-do-i-get-an-original-image-back}

To get an original image back, open **Images** and click **Restore** on its row: XSeo keeps each original, byte for byte, for 60 days after it optimised the image, while XSeo is installed. Images you optimise on the Images page aren’t runs in Activity, so they’re restored there.

1. In XSeo, open **Images**. The **Optimized** view lists the images XSeo replaced.
2. Click **Restore** on an image’s row. A message says **Image restored**.
3. For several, select them and click **Restore selected**, or click **Restore all** at the top of the page, then confirm. These run on XSeo’s servers, so you can close the page.

A restored image keeps its link, its place in the gallery, its variants and its alt text.

Each image’s **Restore** says until when it can be restored. If an image was replaced in Shopify after XSeo optimised it, XSeo doesn’t overwrite the newer image. More in [compress Shopify images with XSeo](/docs/xseo/image-compression/).

## Where else can I see what XSeo changed? {#where-else-can-i-see-what-xseo-changed}

Besides Activity, XSeo shows its changes on each item’s page in **Listings**, in Home’s **This month** card and in its monthly report email; a few kinds are kept only on their own page.

- **An item’s page in Listings:** **Changes made by XSeo** lists every SEO title, meta description, URL handle and search visibility change, newest first, with **Before**, **After**, where it came from and an **Undo** on each. A renamed URL handle and **Hide from search engines** are undone here, not in Activity.
- **Home’s This month:** what XSeo wrote this month (UTC), kind by kind, leaving out what was undone or restored.
- **The monthly report email:** on the 1st, what XSeo wrote the month before, with links to the runs.
- **Listings → Blog post drafts:** the posts XSeo created, each with **Undo** while it’s still hidden.
- **The AI crawlers page:** **Changes XSeo made**, with an undo on each, and **Remove XSeo’s rules**.

## What stays if I uninstall XSeo? {#what-stays-if-i-uninstall-xseo}

What XSeo wrote stays in your store when you uninstall it, but XSeo deletes its change history and image originals 48 hours later, so undo or restore anything you want back first.

In XSeo’s words: “Uninstalling keeps your optimized images and the text XSeo wrote. To get originals or earlier text back, restore or undo first: XSeo deletes its copies and change history 48 hours after uninstall.” AI crawler rules stay in your theme too, unless you click **Remove XSeo’s rules** first. Everything that stays and stops: [what happens if you uninstall XSeo](/docs/xseo/getting-started/#what-happens-if-i-uninstall-xseo).
